Junkers 6060-5 Bauhaus

Hugo Junkers was not only a brilliant engineer, but also a great admirer of expressionist paintings and modern design. He developed a close connection with the artists of the Bauhaus movement through the inspiration of the high aesthetic claims for the creation of his airplanes. The Bauhaus collection is by far the most elegant Junkers watches with various unique features, whether it has a 24 hours sub-dial, a date display or a power reserve indicator, built with the most reliable craftsmanship. With each model available in a cream/beige or black dial, this collection offers a wide range of affordable timepieces for all of the aviation enthusiasts out there.

The 6060-5 watch is made in Germany under the highest quality measures combining style, durability and history. The weight of the watch is 62 grams with a case diameter of 40 x 12 mm. With the case being so small, the dial can appear to be large, especially with a domed hesalite crystal.

The stainless steel case features a crystal exhibition case back, which allows you to see the movement. It is also water resistant of up to 3 ATM (30 meters). The bezel measures at 1 mm resembling a short and polished look. However, the domed hesalite crystal makes the interior wall not noticeable, rather showing you a reflected image of the dial. This feature makes the Bauhaus collection unique.

This watch is powered by a Miyota 9132 Japanese automatic movement by Citizen with 26 jewels. This movement features hours, minutes, hacking seconds, a 24 hours sub-dial, a date and a power reserve indicator. Due to the various features the movement provides, the rotor is noisy making you believe there is something loose in the watch. However, that is not the case. The sound is quite noticeable, as if a small metal ball were bouncing around in a plastic case.

This movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a measurement of 13.5 x 5 mm thick with a total case diameter of 25 mm.

The intelligence of this watch is presented on the dial. It features a 24 hours sub-dial located at the 6 o’ clock position and a power reserve indicator located between the 11 and 1 o’clock positions, which are all painted on the dial, as well as a date display window located at the 3 o’clock position. As the 40 hour power reserve indicator slowly makes its way to the end, you’ll find the daily ritual of winding a pleasure as it will give you great satisfaction.

The dial is a gorgeous shade of beige with luminous dots located at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions, resembling a vintage look. The dial features long thin lines to mark the hour numerals with small Arabic numerals printed in 5-minute intervals. With the minute intervals so close to the edge of the dial, your attention is positioned to the interior case. You’ll find the 6060-5 to be quite effective in the dark as the minute and hour hands as well as Junkers logo are also filled with Super-luminova. The thin black hands on the two sub-dials make it easy to identify the time as they appear to be darker than the small Arabic numerals printed.

This timepiece features a domed hesalite crystal creating a vintage look. With a very thin bezel, the crystal takes up almost the entire face of the watch making this a unique feature for a watch. It also creates a circular effect of the dial when looking at the minute intervals.

The circular crown has rigged edges for easier ability to adjust the time. It features an engraved Junkers logo on the front side.

Wrapped around the dial is a sturdy 20 mm dark brown leather strap with stitching on the sides. The back of the strap states, “Fatta a mano cuoio natural”, which translates to “handmade natural leather” in Italian. The strap features a buckle closure making it suitable for casual and formal attire.

With a minimalist display and a vintage-looking design including various unique features, you can’t go wrong with this watch as it has everything you need while looking stylish.
