Zeppelin quartz chronograph 100 Years collection, alarm & reference time setting

The most popular watch from Zeppelin is the quartz Chronograph from the 100 years collection and one of the most common questions we get from customers is how to properly set up the alarm.

A Swiss-made Ronda 5130.D movement powers these watches and features an alarm function tied to a "reference time." To set the alarm correctly, you first need to set the reference time.

What is the reference time?

The current time is shown by the hour and minute hands, parallel to the current time, the Ronda 5130.D keeps track of a reference time in the background. The alarm time is set based on this reference time.

To avoid the alarm going off at the wrong time the reference time and the current time must be synchronized.

Important Notes:

- The reference time does not differentiate between AM and PM, so when active the alarm will sound every 12 hours.

- To avoid alarm discrepancies, ensure that your reference time matches the current time.

Setting the reference time:

  • Pull the crown to its 3rd position; the second hand will stop.
  • The alarm sub-dial (located at 6 o’clock) will show the current reference time.
  • Press the lower push-button for at least 2 seconds to activate setting mode.
  • The small minute hand in the alarm sub-dial will jump forward one minute, indicating the setting mode is active.
  • Short press the lower push-button to advance the minute hand by one minute, or press it longer to advance by the hour. Continue until you reach the desired reference time.
  • Push the crown back into position one.
  • The alarm sub-dial will now switch from showing reference time to alarm time.

Setting the alarm:

Once the reference time is set, you can proceed with setting the alarm:

  • Ensure the crown is fully pushed in.
  • Press the lower pushers for at least 2 seconds to activate the setting mode. The small minute hand will jump forward, indicating the setting mode is ready.
  • Short press the lower push-button to move the minute hand by one minute, or press longer to move it by the hour. Continue until the desired alarm time is set.
  • 10 seconds after releasing the bottom pusher, the setting mode will deactivate, and the alarm will be active.
  • To activate or deactivate the alarm, press the button pusher:
    • One beep means the alarm is off.
    • Two beeps mean the alarm is on.

Conclusion:

The Zeppelin 100 Years Watch Collection is a tribute to the enduring legacy of Zeppelin over the past century. This collection blends classic elegance with modern technology, and the Quartz chronograph exemplifies what a watch company can achieve when it pushes the boundaries of innovation.
