Junkers 6864-3 Mountain Wave

Inspired by two courageous glider pilots who flew over Mount Everest at icy temperatures, the Mountain Wave project collection exemplifies durable and reliable timepieces suitable for any weather condition. Flying at temperatures as low as -46, these pilots, with the help of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) undertook the first 3D measurement of Mount Everest in order to create safe rescue routes for mountain climbers.

This astounding historical accomplishment resembles the durability and elegance of this collection with unique features built with high German craftsmanship. Amongst many milestones and positive qualities, it’s hard to imagine aviation history without admiring Hugo Junkers and his watch collections.

CASE/BEZEL

The 6864-3 watch features a silver stainless steel case with a crystal exhibition case back. This watch weighs 69 grams with a case diameter of 40 x 11 mm accentuating a bold look.

A crystal exhibition case back allows the owner of the watch to truly appreciate the design and craftsmanship of the movement. With a water resistance of 10 ATM (100 meters), this watch is suitable for recreational surfing, swimming and other water sport activities.

MOVEMENT

The reliable Miyota 9015 Japanese automatic movement by Citizen with 24 jewels powers this watch, which is visible through the crystal exhibition case back. The Miyota 9015 features hours, minutes, central seconds and a date.

This movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and is measured at 26 x 4 mm thick. It also has a desirable hacking function. With a maximum 42 hour power reserve, this watch makes the daily ritual of winding a pleasure and a great satisfaction.

DIAL/HANDS

The blue dial features a date display located at the 3 o’ clock position and a Junkers logo located at the 12 o’clock position. The airplane used in the historic Mountain Wave project is displayed at the 6 o’clock position manifesting a piece of history on your wrist.

Its white luminous Arabic numerals on the hour and minute indicators and hands provide effective readability in the dark. The red central seconds and white hands make it easy to identify the time on the contrasting blue dial.

CROWN

The main crown is protected by stainless steel to ensure the least possibility of water leaking through with two pushers allowing you to start and stop the central seconds.

CRYSTAL

The scratch-resistant sapphire crystal makes it suitable for everyday use. Sapphire crystals are the most expensive type of crystals for good reason, of course. Of the three most common crystals used for watches, including mineral glass and plastic, sapphire crystals are scratch-resistant and can endure the most damage. This allows you to wear the watch under any circumstance without having to worry about the crystal shattering or getting damaged.

STRAP

The dark blue 20 mm alligator-style leather strap with white stitching on the sides matches the blue dial with white bold Arabic numerals, creating a modern and stylish look that is sure to bring all of the attention to your wrist. The inside of the strap is red with a buckle closure.

CONCLUSION

With its unique features built with high German craftsmanship, this timepiece promises to last throughout all of your expeditions.
