Junkers 6050-5 Bauhaus

Hugo Junkers was a German engineer and aircraft designer who is widely credited with designing the first all-metal aircrafts. In similarity to their role model, Junkers watches represent robustness, persistence and a unique design.

The Bauhaus collection brings a thrilling era of aircraft history with a wide variety of different watches, with some powered by a Japanese automatic movement while others with a Swiss quartz movement. With the option of cream/beige or black dials as well as numerous unique features, the Bauhaus collection offers an elegant and classic timepiece for every pilot lover out there.

CASE/BEZEL

The 6050-5 watch is a light and prestigious watch weighing 52 grams with a case diameter of 40 x 11 mm. The small case can make the dial seem larger than it actually is. The silver stainless steel case features a crystal exhibition case back making the movement visible without having to open it. It also has a water resistance of 3 ATM (30 meters).

The 1 mm bezel gives it a classic and simple look. Because of this, you’ll see a reflection of the dial through the domed hesalite crystal as the interior wall is not perceptible. This common feature in the Bauhaus collection is what makes the watches so unique and prominent.

MOVEMENT

This automatic (self-winding) watch is powered by the reliable Swiss ETA 2824-2 movement with 25 jewels. The ETA 2824-2 movement features hours, minutes, a sweep second, a date and a stop second device. With a maximum 38 hour power reserve, the self-winding movement with a ball bearing makes the daily ritual of winding a pleasure and a great satisfaction. Its measurements are 11.5 x 4.5 mm thick with a diameter of 25 mm.

This movement beats 28,800 vibrations per hour and is run by an effective system called Ethacron, making it easier for anyone to wind and adjust the time.

DIAL/HANDS

This precise timepiece combines elegance and history. The cream dial features a date display located at the 3 o’ clock position and the Junkers logo at the 6 o’ clock position. This watch is effective in the dark with luminous dots located at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions.

Instead of Arabic or Roman numerals to indicate the hour, this watch has thin long grey lines painted on the dial with small Arabic numerals printed in 5-minute intervals. Its grey hour and minute hands are filled with Super-Luminova with a third hand for the seconds. The minimalist dial with its cream colour makes the watch seem larger than it is, despite the small case. Because of this, your attention is carried to the date and time with limited distractions

CRYSTAL

The 6050-5 is framed by a domed hesalite crystal, which creates a vintage look. Because this watch has a very thin bezel, the domed crystal benefits the edge of the dial and acts as a vital protector. The hesalite crystal is what makes the Bauhaus collection so unique since most watches are framed by a mineral or sapphire crystal.

STRAP

The back of the strap states, “Fatta a mano cuoio natural”, which translates to “handmade natural leather” in Italian. Its 20 mm dark brown leather strap with stitching on the sides creates a gorgeous design. The buckle closure makes this watch suitable for any casual and formal attire.

CROWN

The crown has rigged edges to easily adjust the time and measure the seconds with the third hand. It features an engraved Junkers logo on the front side.

CONCLUSION

With numerous positive aspects about this watch, it promises durability and reliability while looking stylish for many years to come.
